DOM ROSSIGNOL-TRAPET CHAMBERTIN 2012

Chambertin Grand Cru sits at the top of the Gevrey-Chambertin slope, where thin Bathonian limestone soils over compact rock force Pinot Noir roots deep and yield wines of uncommon density and structure. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, which farms its Chambertin parcel biodynamically, produced this 2012 with characteristically restrained winemaking — the result is a medium-bodied wine rather than a blockbuster, with precise red fruit, cedar, and woodland aromas on the nose. Fine acidity anchors the palate, and the finish tapers cleanly with good length.
