Description of Product
Brothers Frédéric and Emmanuel Humbert craft exceptional Pinot Noir from Fixin's distinctive terroir, where limestone soils rich in fossilized seashells create the foundation for wines of remarkable structure and character. Located in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits between Dijon and prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin's brown limestone terrain with east-facing exposure delivers wines known as "winter wines" that reward patience. The 2022 vintage reveals fresh plum and red cherry aromatics with hints of violet and green tea, while the palate showcases medium body with powdery tannins, bright acidity, and fine mineral character. This "masculine yet delicate" wine embodies the rustic charm and concentrated fruit that makes Fixin an exceptional value in Burgundy's portfolio.
Burghound (87-89): An exuberantly fresh nose combines notes of mostly essence of various red berries with those of earth and a suggestion of the sauvage. The palate impression of the medium weight flavors is similar to that of the Bourgogne, e.g., not especially dense though I like the vibrancy of the sneaky long and youthfully austere finale that is slightly firmer and more complex.
