DOMAINE ARLAUD CHARMES-CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2023

Domaine Arlaud's certified biodynamic Charmes-Chambertin is sourced entirely from the Mazoyères section — the southernmost and highest-elevation portion of the appellation, abutting Latricières-Chambertin to the west on shallow Bajocian limestone soils with clay and decomposed limestone gravel. Cyprien Arlaud vinifies three age-based lots separately: 80+-year-old vines, 50+-year-old vines, and a younger parcel he may declassify, with whole-cluster reserved strictly for the oldest fruit. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged in barrel, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Strawberry, blackcurrant, violet, dried herbs, and spice on the nose; full, opulent, and sappy on the palate with a long, elegant finish. 94–96pts Vinous, 94–96pts Jasper Morris MW.
