DETERT CABERNET FRANC OAKVILLE 2021

Oakville's deep, well-drained Coombs gravelly loam soils are among Napa Valley's most coveted, and it's within this AVA that Detert farms its parcel of the historic To Kalon Vineyard, where Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1979 still produce. Organic and sustainable farming, hand-harvesting, and deficit irrigation guide the fruit to harvest. Multiple small-lot fermentations with varied skin contact times build complexity before 18 months in French oak. The result is dense and lush — licorice, dark chocolate, currant, and fig preserves on the palate, finishing with dried herbs, anise, and cocoa over silky tannins.
