DALVA TAWNY PORT

Most Tawny Port shoppers picture amber, nutty, and oxidatively aged — Dalva's NV Tawny is the fruitier, more approachable end of the style, spending three to five years in oak pipes rather than decades. C. da Silva, founded in 1862 and now part of the Grandvinho group, draws on their own Quinta dos Avidagos in the Douro, where schist soils with high stoniness and old vines supply Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Cão. That shorter oxidative aging keeps the color closer to ruby-red than amber, with aromas of fresh and dried fruit, a hint of vanilla, and a cherry-tinged, balanced finish.
