CROFT RESERVE RUBY PORT

Reserve Ruby is the style that keeps Port's fruit alive — fermentation is cut short with grape spirit to lock in residual sugar and color, then the wine rests in neutral oak for three to four years, long enough to soften but short enough to preserve the deep ruby hue that defines the category. Croft, founded in 1588 and the oldest firm still active in Port production, builds this blend from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz grown on schist soils — terrain that retains moisture through the Douro's brutal summers. The result opens with blackcurrant and dark plum, with cedar and baking spice on the mid-palate, and closes with chocolate and sweet tannins.
