CROFT 7 YEAR RESERVE TAWNY PORT

Tawny Port's defining move is oxidative aging in small oak — and Croft's Reserve Tawny does it with grapes sourced from individual Douro Valley growers across vineyards whose varying altitude and aspect build complexity from the start. The component wines age up to seven years in seasoned oak casks at Croft's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, then are blended a few months before bottling for balance. The result is light brick-red with an amber hue, showing caramel, raisins, and clove on the nose, with cardamom, butterscotch, and redcurrant on the palate, finishing with strawberry jam and a nutty warmth. Croft, founded in 1588, is the oldest firm still active in Port production.
