Cathy Corison founded her namesake winery in 1987 after a decade at Chappellet Vineyard, sourcing certified organic Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena's benchland vineyards—Sunbasket, Grech, and Hayne—where Bale gravelly loam soils have produced balanced, age-worthy wines since the late 19th century. Native yeast fermentation in closed-top stainless steel precedes 20 months in 50% new French oak for this 2021. The well-drained alluvial terroir delivers classic cassis, cedar, tobacco leaf, and graphite with structured tannins and integrated acidity—powerful yet elegant Cabernet that speaks to place and Corison's five-decade commitment to restrain.
