Cabernet Sauvignon from California's Paso Robles appellation tends to run richer and fuller than its Napa counterparts, thanks to the region's wide diurnal temperature swings and dry-farmed clay-loam soils. Francis Ford Coppola's Diamond Collection blends in small amounts of Petit Verdot for spice and Petite Sirah for color and concentration. The result is a full-bodied red with black cherry, coffee, and vanilla on the nose, ripe stone fruit and toasted oak on the palate, and a long, spicy finish with supple tannins.
