COMTE ARMAND POMMARD CLOS DES EPENEAUX 2021

Whole-cluster fermentation is central to Comte Armand's approach at Clos des Epeneaux, a five-hectare monopole walled vineyard sitting on iron-rich clay and limestone soils in the heart of Pommard. The vines root into the heavier, deeper soils typical of Les Epenots, which produce wines with more structure and darker fruit than the sandier northern end of the commune. Aged in a mix of new and used Burgundian barrels, the 2021 delivers black cherry, dried violet, and a streak of iron minerality, with firm tannins and a long, savory finish.
