COMTE ARMAND POMMARD CLOS DES EPENEAUX 2020

A single five-hectare walled monopole in the heart of Pommard, the Clos des Epeneaux has been Comte Armand's sole focus since the parcel entered the family in the early 19th century. The vineyard sits on iron-rich clay and limestone soils characteristic of Pommard's Grands Épeneaux lieu-dit, producing Pinot Noir with the density and structure the appellation is known for. The 2020 vintage brought low yields and concentrated fruit; the wine is aged in a significant proportion of new French oak barrels. Expect dark cherry, black plum, iron, and dried violet, with firm, age-worthy tannins and a long, earthy finish.
