COELHEIROS BRANCO 2024

Arinto-dominant whites are a rarity in Alentejo, a region built on red wine and scorching summers — yet Herdade de Coelheiros has centered its Branco on exactly this grape for its ability to hold acidity where most whites fade. The 80% Arinto, 20% Antão Vaz blend is drawn from the Monte and Alto vineyards near Évora, farmed organically and dry on sandy-clay and deep clay soils at around 300 meters elevation. Grapes are hand-harvested at night, then fermented in stainless steel with roughly 20% of the blend transferred to 500L barrels and foudres on fine lees for added texture. Expect grapefruit peel, lemon zest, and crisp green apple, with a taut, linear mid-palate and a long, fresh finish.
