Château Rol Valentin cultivates 7.3 hectares across Saint-Émilion's Right Bank, where ancient sand over clay and limestone slopes create exceptional terroir for this Grand Cru estate guided by consulting oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt. The herbicide-free vineyards average 40 years old, meticulously tended with traditional soil work, de-budding, and multiple green harvests to limit yields to 35 hl/ha. This 2020 blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec undergoes gentle extraction in small wooden vats, then ages 14-16 months in French oak on its lees. The wine reveals concentrated dark plum, blackberry, and graphite aromatics with velvety tannins, espresso notes, and the signature elegance of Right Bank Bordeaux—a powerful yet refined expression perfect alongside grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
