What's unusual about Pontet-Canet is that a classified Fifth Growth operates and farms biodynamically, a rarity among Médoc estates of any rank. These Pauillac vines sit on deep gravel and clay soils just north of Mouton Rothschild, and in 2022 the vintage delivered more precision than volume — the wine is tighter and more focused than the opulent prior releases. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot shows bright red fruit, lavender, mint, and mocha, with a long, structured finish built for cellaring.
