Château-Fuissé's 2.68-hectare Le Clos monopole, elevated to premier cru status in 2020, surrounds the historic château on southeast-facing slopes between 265-295 meters where 40-90 year old Chardonnay vines root through three distinct geological layers: clay colluvial soils in the lower section, brown marl midslope, and white Bathonian limestone at the top. Winemaker Antoine Vincent hand-harvests and whole-cluster presses the fruit, fermenting with native yeasts in barrels with extended lees aging and bâtonnage before blending the three parcels. The 2023 vintage opens with toasted bread, fresh almonds, and white flowers, leading to a concentrated palate of ripe stone fruit with exotic hints, crisp acidity, and mineral tension that carries through the long, elegant finish—pair with turbot, lobster, or Bresse chicken with morels.
