In Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, this estate traces to 1550 but gained prominence under Pierre Bernard "Péby" Guisez in the late 1980s before Swiss businessman Silvio Denz acquired it in 2005 and constructed a new winery with consultant Michel Rolland. The 35-year-old vineyards of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon grow on limestone and clay soils typical of Saint-Émilion's Right Bank, producing wines with dark plum, blackberry, and violet aromatics, supported by earthy minerality, espresso, and supple tannins that reflect both the clay's water retention and limestone's natural drainage. The Grand Cru designation requires lower yields and stricter aging requirements than standard Saint-Émilion, resulting in concentrated fruit character and structured tannins built for extended cellaring.
