CHARTREUSE GENTIANE DES PERES CHARTREUX APERITIF LIQUEUR

The Carthusian monks of Voiron — the same order making Chartreuse since 1737 — first bottled this gentian aperitif in 1998, reviving a recipe rooted in centuries of Alpine botanical knowledge. Produced in the French Alps, it uses gentian roots and mountain herbs that develop concentrated bitter compounds at high altitude, macerated in a beetroot-based alcohol at 22.7% ABV. The formula, like all Chartreuse products, is known to only a handful of monks. Expect quinine-like bitterness, earthy herbal depth, and restrained sweetness — clean and bitter-forward at the finish.
