CHAMPAGNE PIERRE PAILLARD 'LIEU DIT LES MOTTLETTES BOUZY' BLANC DE BLANCS GRAND CRU EXTRA BRUT 2020

Antoine and Quentin Paillard farm Les Mottelettes, a single lieu-dit at the base of Bouzy's south-facing Grand Cru slope, under certified organic viticulture. Chalk-and-clay soils anchor Chardonnay vines planted in 1961, giving the fruit a density unusual for Champagne's Marne Valley. Fermented on ambient yeasts in 350-liter barrels with full malolactic fermentation, then aged 48 months on the lees before disgorgement at 3g/L, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2020 opens with lemon curd, white peach, and brioche, and finishes with chalk-dusted minerality and a long, mouth-coating richness.
