CH LYNCH BAGES PAUILLAC 2020

Pauillac, the Left Bank commune anchored by three of Bordeaux's five first growths, is where Lynch-Bages has operated since the 18th century, drawing on gravelly Günzian gravel soils that drain aggressively and push vines deep for water and nutrients. The 2020 was the inaugural vintage in the estate's newly built winery, and the blend — 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot — leans heavier on Merlot than typical, reflecting vintage yields rather than a stylistic pivot. It opens with crème de cassis and blackberry, with pencil shavings and integrated oak, finishing with ripe, powdery tannins.
