Fennel, green almond, and lemon peel hit first — the hallmark aromatics of Verdejo grown on north-facing riverbed gravel and stones along the Duero near Villafranca del Duero, where alluvial soils push the variety toward pronounced minerality and aromatic intensity. Familia Torres's Pago del Cielo estate, established in Rueda in 2014, sources exclusively from estate vineyards at roughly 750 meters elevation in the westernmost corner of the DO.
