CASTELLO MONACI NEGROAMARO 'MARU' 2021

The Salento peninsula's limestone-laced soils, pulled from Puglia's southernmost tip and tempered by air off both the Adriatic and Ionian seas, give Negroamaro the structure to match its ripeness. Castello Monaci, a sustainably certified estate built around a 16th-century castle with cellars carved from bedrock, harvests exclusively at night to protect fruit integrity. The 2021 Maru shows dark cherry and Mediterranean herbs, with Negroamaro's characteristic bitter edge carrying through a round, full mid-palate and a structured finish.
