Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant white in Loncomilla — a sub-valley of Maule that red Bordeaux varieties have claimed as their heartland — making Carta Vieja's version a quiet outlier in its own backyard. The Del Pedregal family's estate, founded in 1825 and planted at around 2,000 feet elevation, sits on alluvial and loamy soils fed by the Loncomilla River, where hot days and cool nights lock in acidity. Vinification focuses on preventing oxidation throughout to preserve freshness. It pours pale yellow with green tints and delivers lime, white currant, and fresh herbs with mineral-driven acidity on the finish.
