Tenuta Carobbio thrives in a natural amphitheater between Florence and Siena, where enologist Dario Faccin—who mapped 740 acres of Chianti's soil compositions—revived this historic 123-acre estate to craft the 2013 Chianti Classico that won Decanter's "Best of Show." The certified organic, southwest-facing vineyards benefit from galestro and alberese soils typical of Chianti Classico's elevated terrain, hand-harvested in early October and fermented with 15-day maceration before 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels. This ruby-red Sangiovese reveals ripe red cherry, violet, and warming spice on the nose, while the palate delivers full-bodied structure, velvety tannins, and impressive balance—a wine built for 10-15 years of cellaring potential.
