Description of Product
Burlotto is a family-owned winery in Verduno, Piedmont, Italy, with a long history of producing high-quality wines. The dream of the family has always been to share Barolo with the world, and they have been working towards this goal since the early 20th century. With a strong connection to the territory and a passion for winemaking, the Burlotto family has built a reputation for producing exceptional wines. Today, the winery is run by Gian Carlo Burlotto and his son Gianluca, who continue the family tradition with the brand Cascina Massara.
The prestigious Castelletto vineyard occupies a commanding position on Monforte d'Alba's hillside ridge, where the distinctive clayey marl soils rich in limestone and minerals of the ancient Lequio Formation create the perfect foundation for exceptional Nebbiolo grapes. This geological treasure, sharing terroir characteristics with renowned Serralunga d'Alba, produces a Barolo of extraordinary depth and complexity through traditional gravity-fed fermentation in French oak vat] and extended aging for up to 33 months in large French oak barrels. The resulting wine showcases Nebbiolo's signature profile with intense aromas of dried roses and tar, complemented by flavors reminiscent of dark cherries, leather, and earthy mushrooms, while firm tannins and bright acidity promise decades of cellar evolution - a true expression of Piedmont's most celebrated terroir crafted without fining or filtration.
