Les Cazetiers is one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most debated Premier Crus — a climat that many argue deserved Grand Cru classification in the 1930s and didn't get it. Bruno Clair's 0.87-hectare parcel sits at 300–355 meters elevation on an east/southeast-facing slope above the village, with a thin, gravelly topsoil over crinoidal limestone and marl subsoil; Arthur Clair has called it the Premier Cru with the most volume on the palate, crediting the grey marl for the wine's muscular grip. Clair farms organically (uncertified), using 30–50% whole-cluster fermentation in open wooden vats, then ages the wine 18–20 months in oak barrels with roughly 35% new wood. The 2020 opens with black fruit and white pepper backed by briar, turns floral with air, and finishes with firm, fine-grained tannins and real length.
