When John Bergström and his son Josh established Bergström Wines in 1999, they committed from the start to estate farming in the Willamette Valley. Today Josh and his wife Caroline oversee five monopole biodynamic vineyards across three of the Valley's AVAs, using homemade compost and herbal teas in place of synthetic inputs. Silice draws from deep, siliceous sandy loam soils in the Chehalem Mountains — a low-nutrient substrate that stresses vines and concentrates fruit. Expect bright red cherry, dried rose petal, and a fine-grained tannic finish with earthy undertones.
