ALDO CONTERNO QUARTETTO LANGHE ROSSO 2019

Blending Nebbiolo with Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah is a deliberate departure for a house best known for single-vineyard Barolo, and Aldo Conterno's Quartetto uses that combination to deliver something more approachable than the estate's flagship wines. Grapes come from Langhe DOC vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, where Tortonian soils of compact marl and limestone shape the wine's structure. The result opens with black cherry and dark currant, layers in tar and iron-tinged earth mid-palate, and closes with firm but integrated tannins.
