Aldo Conterno cultivates Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah across multiple vineyard parcels in Bussia, a cru site within Monforte d'Alba in Piedmont's Langhe hills known for calcareous-clay marl soils that provide structure and minerality to the region's wines. Hand-harvested in mid-October with vineyard selection, the 2021 Quartetto macerates 8-10 days in stainless steel at 24-26°C before aging several months in oak casks following initial tank maturation.
The blend delivers red cherry and raspberry from Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir, dark plum from Merlot, and peppery spice from Syrah, unified by the Langhe's fog-influenced diurnal temperature swings that preserve acidity while concentrating flavors during the extended growing season. The estate's location in Bussia places these vines on south-facing slopes at elevations between 250-400 meters where Nebbiolo traditionally achieves full phenolic ripeness.
