Justin Willett launched Ad Ripa in 2021 after founding Tyler Winery in 2005, dedicating this label to Happy Canyon AVA's easternmost terroir where mid-morning fog and sunny afternoons ripen Bordeaux varieties on nutrient-poor loam, clay, chert, and serpentine cobble soils. This practicing organic Cabernet Sauvignon honors Willett's late father Rory Steven Willett, sourced from gnarly 2001 head-trained vines on Block 8's steep, west-facing river cobble slope using To Kalon cuttings. Native yeast fermentation in open-top oak, two weeks on skins, and 20 months in 33% new French oak produce 213 un-fined, unfiltered cases at 13.5% alcohol with concentrated dark fruit, rocky minerality, and structured tannins.
