LEOPOLD BROTHERS 8 YEARS OLD CASK STRENGTH STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY FINISHED IN THREE CHAMBERS RYE BARRELS

Representing a milestone for the Colorado-based Leopold Bros distillery, their 8-year-old Cask Strength Bourbon marks both their oldest and highest-proof whiskey release to date. Initially barreled at 50% ABV, this expression developed unique concentration through extended maturation in their dunnage-style warehouse with earthen floors, resulting in an unusually high 55+% ABV. To balance this intensity, master distiller Todd Leopold ingeniously finished the whiskey in used Three Chamber Rye barrels, which introduced complementary sweet grain and graham cracker notes while adding textural complexity through retained oils. This innovative approach perfectly enhances the distillery's signature profile of candied apricot and orange marmalade, creating remarkable depth from their distinctive mashbill of 65% corn, 20% floor-malted barley, and 15% rye. The resulting bourbon delivers exceptional concentration and character that showcases Leopold's commitment to traditional methods and creative maturation techniques.
