LA SCOLCA GAVI WHITE LABEL 2022

Founded in 1919, La Scolca is a pioneering estate that helped establish Gavi as a prestigious white wine region in northwest Italy. The Soldati family focused entirely on producing quality Cortese wines after WWII, using stainless steel and controlled vinification to preserve the grape s subtle fruit and crisp acidity. Now run by the 5th generation, the 50 hectare estate practices sustainable viticulture on prime hillside vineyards near the Mediterranean. With some of Piedmont s oldest Cortese vines and a tradition of low-yield, careful winemaking, La Scolca creates complex, age-worthy white wines that appear on top wine lists worldwide. The 2014 vintage marked their 95th year of pioneering work with this indigenous varietal. The wine has a light straw color in the glass. On the nose, it shows a typical and finely pleasant freshness in its perfumed aromas. The flavor is delicate and very dry, with a pretty evident note of crisp acidity that characterizes the taste.
