Shaw + Smith, established in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw, crafts vibrant, medium-bodied wines exclusively from the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills. With a commitment to sustainability and quality, they own two vineyards in Lenswood and Balhannah, where they focus on growing the best possible grapes through hand-picking, sustainable vineyard management, and a dedication to vine health, soil health, and low yields. The winery, built in 2000 at Balhannah, is where all wines are fermented, aged, and bottled on-site, and features a Tasting Room open daily to visitors. Delicate, fragrant, light to medium bodied but with deceptive power, firm tannins and medium term ageing potential.
