Selvapiana, a 593-acre estate situated in the Chianti Rufina appellation, boasts a rich history dating back to 1827 when Michele Giuntini Selvapiana purchased the property. In 1957, the estate was sold to Francesco Giuntini Antinori, who continued to develop its potential. The estate's 111 acres of vineyards, planted on a mix of galestro, limestone, and clay soils, benefit from a long growing season that allows the fruit to reach optimal phenolic ripeness. Selvapiana's portfolio showcases the best of the region, including Chianti Rufina, Chianti Rufina Riserva Bucerchiale, and Fornace, a blend of the estate's Sangiovese and international varieties. Additionally, the Selvapiana estate manages Fattoria Petrognano, which produces the highly regarded Pomino Rosso.
This well-structured and complex blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot showcases the unique characteristics of each grape variety, thanks to the vinification process in stainless steel tanks and the aging of Sangiovese in large French oak casks, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot components are aged in French oak barriques.
