Dom Thierry Ruinart, a visionary Benedictine monk (1657-1709), recognized the potential of the sparkling "wine with bubbles" while studying in Paris. His keen insights and convictions about the promising future of this wine, produced from the vines of his native Champagne, were passed down to his brother and nephew. In 1729, twenty years after Dom Ruinart's death, his nephew Nicolas Ruinart founded Maison Ruinart, the first Champagne House, cementing the family's name in history.
The Ruinart Blanc de Blancs boasts a beautiful pale yellow color with hints of gold and green, and a lively effervescence. On the nose, it initially reveals sweet notes of chestnut, coconut, and fresh bread, quickly followed by floral aromas of iris, lily-of-the-valley, and Seville orange blossoms, as well as citrus notes of bergamot and citron. Mineral and saline notes of wet rock and flint also emerge. The palate offers a direct yet silky attack, supported by mineral notes and a supple, harmonious texture. The wine's vinosity is balanced by excellent freshness, leading to a refreshing mineral finish. This versatile champagne pairs well with various dishes, including sea scallop carpaccio, sea bream tartare, and pineapple and prawn skewers, making it a perfect choice for aperitifs, lunch, dinner, or celebratory meals.
