Founded by Raffaele Vagnoni in the 1960s, Le Caniette converted family-inherited lands into 16 hectares of vineyards, making wine the main business focus. His son Giovanni joined in the 1990s, introducing innovations that gained the winery regional and global acclaim. Today spanning 20 hectares including vineyards, olive groves, and woods, Le Caniette benefits from a unique microclimate influenced by the nearby Adriatic Sea and Balkan region, as well as soils of sandy deposits and ancient conglomerates. Dedicated to naturalness, the estate practices certified organic viticulture across all its bottlings. Committed to showcasing regional specialties, Le Caniette is part of the Consorzio Vini Piceni group promoting the quality wines of Marche both nationally and abroad.
This Rosso Piceno pours an intense ruby red in the glass. The nose shows aromas of ripe red fruits mingled with notes of the surrounding undergrowth and forest floor. As it breathes, warm baking spice and soft spice notes emerge to complement the fruit. On the palate, it has an intense, persistent core of ripe fruit flavors structured by appropriate tannins. The taste clearly connects back to the aromas on the nose of red fruits, earth, and spices that distinguish the wine's bouquet. Overall, it is a layered and distinctive expression of the Rosso Piceno appellation that allows both the terroir and traditional winemaking to shine through. An excellent pairing for hearty regional cuisine.
