From 40+ year old vines in Petit Pré which was once classified as Volnay villages. A slightly more elegant nose is comprised by aromas of red pinot fruit, plum and soft earth nuances. There is again good vibrant and detail to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that culminate in a highly refreshing and lingering finale. This is also terrific for its level and equally highly recommended.
The 2021 Bourgogne Pinot Noir has an uncomplicated earthy, sous-bois-infused bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, but I find this a little dry on the finish at the moment. This needs a bit of a pep-up.
Cask sample. Pale ruby. Very clean with crisp, precise red fruits: cherries, redcurrants. Zesty, fresh acidity and fine, elegant perfume. ‘Will drink early and age well’, says Frédéric. Medium-bodied with elegant tannins. (MH)
