Blackberry, mushroom and earthy notes on the nose. It is full-bodied with elegant tannins and a savory, juicy texture in the mouth, leading to a flavorful finish. Lightly juicy. A tiny bit hollow in the middle palate now, but nicely done. Better after 2022, when it will have filled in.
The 2018 Chapelle de Potensac is bright, perfumed and very nicely lifted, with plenty of red berry, dried leaves and floral character. Silky and light on its feet, the Chapelle is a gorgeous, refined Left Bank red to drink over the next decade. There is lovely 2018 raciness to the fruit and impeccable balance to round things out. Antonio Galloni - March 2021
70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% new oak, pH 3.5. Barrel sample.
Deepest cherry red. Nicely stony/dusty dark-red fruit. Juicy raspberry fruit, so lively and fresh. Deliciously approachable and still persistent. Super-fine tannins so it seems to be all fruit. (JH)
