The estate has two different terroirs: one on the Puisseguin limestone plateau, producing Merlot grapes with striking minerality and remarkable elegance, and the other on the clayey slopes of the Listrac area, where the fruit is powerful and concentrated. The grapes are harvested at the peak of ripeness and the two wines are blended to reach a remarkable combination of strength and elegance.
Rich and powerful with a delicate aroma of red cherries and plums, presents wood tannin and vanilla spice.
The blueberry and limestone aromas come through clearly here with a medium body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows just the right amount of chocolate and spice in the aftertaste. Drink in 2020.
Spice, mulled cherries, dried herbs and floral notes all emerge from the 2016 Château La Diligente, which comes from the team of Stéphane Derenoncourt. Medium-bodied, nicely textured, and with an elegant, seamless, balanced style, it should keep for 7-8 years. The 2015 has slightly more depth and richness, yet this is a little gem of a wine.
