Chateau Brane-Cantenac boasts a rich 250-year history in the Margaux appellation, one of Bordeaux's most prestigious. Originally named Hostein, the estate has been meticulously tended by passionate families, including the Gorces who established its renown before the famed 1855 Classification. Today, the Lurton family carries the torch, ensuring exceptional quality from these historic vineyards.

Baron de Brane, the second wine of Chateau Brane-Cantenac, is a captivating expression of Margaux. The bouquet brims with vivid aromas of wild strawberries and licorice, accented by refreshing hints of menthol and caramel. The palate is beautifully balanced, showcasing firm yet elegant tannins that frame a core of dense fruit. Flavors linger on the long, powerful finish, offering a delightful interplay of floral and chocolate notes. This "sexy and powerful wine," as described by some, is a must-try for any Bordeaux enthusiast.

Ch Brane-Cantenac Description

Superb nose very expressive and bursting with fruits. Intense wild strawberries and licorice nose, with a touch of menthol and caramel. Beautiful finesse and aromatic richness. Straightforward in mouth, with firm yet elegant tannins. Long and dense backbone with a very nice volume and a lot of freshness. Concentrated aromatic aftertaste with floral and chocolaty notes. Long and powerful finish, remarkable tannic structure. A sexy and powerful wine!

Two elements helped the Cabernet Sauvignon to reach the level of a great vintage in 2014 : the grapes grew less after the rain in the summer and they began ripening earlier. The extension of the ripening cycle, due to their growth stopping earlier than the Merlot, allowed them to benefit magnificently from the sunny late summer season. The high quality Merlot from the plateau, incorporated in smaller quantities than usual, provided an excellent complement to the blend bringing roundness and aromatic richness.

James Suckling: 90 Points

Quite oaky, but this has a lot of tannic power, berry fruits and freshness that will carry this far into the future. Turns fruity and polished. Second wine of Brane-Cantenac.
