Description of Product
Chateau Les Croisille embodies the passionate journey of Bernard and Cécile Croisille, who in 1979 transformed abandoned land in Fages near Luzech into a thriving vineyard. This family estate, now run with sons Germain and Simon alongside friend Nicolas, fully embraces biodynamic farming principles, earning complete certification. Their diverse terroir combines the limestone-clay plateaus of Fages with the silty-clay second terraces of the Lot Valley, creating the perfect environment for their 30-year-old vines to flourish. The estate's dedication to organic practices includes grass cover between rows, mechanical under-row cultivation, and manual leaf thinning—reflecting their unwavering commitment to expressing the authentic character of this distinctive Cahors landscape.
Le Croizillon showcases 100% Malbec harvested both by hand and machine from 30-year-old vines planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare. This approachable expression highlights Malbec's naturally fruity character through early harvesting and gentle extraction methods. The winemaking involves partial carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts, with the remaining volume undergoing a brief 10-day maceration to preserve fruit purity. After eight months aging in concrete and stainless steel tanks, the wine emerges with vibrant freshness and exceptional drinkability while maintaining the distinctive personality that has made Cahors famous. The result is a genuine reflection of both the Croisille family's meticulous approach and the unique terroir of southwestern France.
