Description of Product
Château Maris, situated in the prestigious La Livinière appellation—the first recognized vineyard in Languedoc—demonstrates exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship. Their 45-hectare estate features a diverse terroir of 50-million-year-old schist, sandstone, quartz, marble, and limestone, forming ideal high-altitude terraces for viticulture. Under Robert Eden's guidance, the estate achieved full biodynamic certification (Ecocert in 2002, Biodyvin in 2004, and Demeter in 2008) and houses the world's first hemp-constructed winery—a revolutionary 9,000-square-meter carbon-negative facility that perfectly embodies their philosophy of working harmoniously with nature.
La Touge showcases the distinctive character of its 20-hectare parcel with mixed clay, limestone, and sandstone soils within the esteemed Minervois-La Livinière appellation. This medium-bodied blend of Syrah and Grenache presents an intensely expressive nose of smoky, meaty notes with concentrated dark fruits like blackcurrant and blackberry. Following biodynamic principles with minimal intervention, the wine undergoes four weeks of maceration in concrete fermenters before aging 16 months in egg-shaped and concrete tanks. The result displays an inky purple color with full-bodied richness, beautifully integrated acidity, and soft, juicy tannins that contribute to its impressive length—embodying the pure, elegant expression that comes from Château Maris' respectful approach to nature.
