Description of Product
In 1981, Dennis and Judy Groth purchased 121 acres in Oakville that would become the foundation for one of Napa's most respected wineries. Their meticulously farmed estate vineyard, particularly the western blocks along Conn Creek that Nils Venge called "the Sweet Spot," produces exceptional Cabernet. The 2021 vintage showcases this terroir with its deep garnet hue and complex aromas of macerated blackberry, graham cracker crust, cocoa nibs, and graphite. The palate delivers bright sour cherry and juicy raspberry balanced by deeper black currant, with hints of rhubarb adding tartness and paprika introducing subtle spice. Initially robust tannins gradually melt away, creating the velvety texture and impressive length that has defined Groth's elegant style since their groundbreaking 100-point 1985 vintage.
