In the cool, fog-influenced Sonoma Coast, childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, with winemaker Caitlin Quinn, craft wines that eloquently express California's most distinctive vineyards. Their 2022 Que Syrah comes from a pioneering site planted in 1994 just three miles from the Pacific at 850 feet—the oldest Syrah in this coastal region. Arnot-Roberts has organically farmed this vineyard since 2013, where Goldridge soils mixed with schist, shale, and mudstone impart mineral complexity. The maritime climate creates a long growing season, allowing perfect ripeness while maintaining vibrant acidity. This electrifying Syrah displays brilliant fuchsia hues with intense briary fruit, peppery spice, and violet notes—clearly inspired by Northern Rhône classics.
