Château de Valcombe, owned by the same family since 1749, represents the southernmost estate in Costières de Nîmes where the region's highest concentration of limestone creates a distinctive terroir influenced by nearby Mediterranean breezes. This historic domain—once celebrated at the 1855 and 1873 World's Fairs—now thrives under the stewardship of Dominique Ricome and his sons Basile and Nicolas, who continue the pioneering legacy of Charles Ricome, who introduced Syrah to the appellation after WWII. The estate's vineyards, including plots dating to 1955, are currently transitioning to certified organic farming practices.
