Description of Product
Château Rieussec, classified as a First Growth in the historic 1855 classification, commands 227 acres across the prestigious terroir of Sauternes and Fargues where the unique microclimate along the elevated banks of the Garonne River produces the morning mists crucial for developing botrytis cinerea (noble rot). Since Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) acquired this historic estate—once owned by Carmes de Langon monks—in 1984, meticulous vineyard management and cellar innovations have elevated quality to extraordinary heights. The 2014 vintage showcases a sparkling yellow hue with subtle green glints, offering an elegant bouquet of wild flowers, candied citrus, and melon. On the palate, this perfectly balanced Sauternes reveals remarkable tension between freshness and richness, with mandarin zest and candied orange flavors complemented by subtle star anise notes before transitioning to classic candied apricot on the lengthy finish.
