Description of Product
Bruno Clair's Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes emerges from a prime southeast-facing slope in the northern Côte de Nuits, where 2.26 hectares of Pinot Noir vines (dating from 1950 to 1990) thrive in the distinctive terroir of clay-limestone soils atop Comblanchien limestone and limestone with entroques at 300 meters elevation. This exceptional site captures optimal sun exposure while the limestone backbone contributes remarkable mineral complexity and structure. The winemaking honors tradition with 30-50% whole bunch fermentation followed by 10-15 days maceration in wooden vats and extended aging for 18-20 months in French oak (40% new). In the glass, the wine presents a captivating red-purple hue while revealing concentrated black fruit aromatics that continue on the palate with remarkable power and expressiveness—a sophisticated Burgundy demanding 4-5 years minimum cellaring to reveal its full potential.
