Sostener is a collaborative venture between Monterey grower/vintners Steve McIntyre and Michael Thomas, who are committed to crafting affordable, high-quality Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. The name "Sostener," meaning "to sustain" in Spanish, reflects the local heritage of the Salinas Valley and the project's dedication to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. Under the guidance of winemaker Eric Laumann, Sostener maintains its commitment to sustainability by sourcing from SIP Certified Vineyards, maintaining SIP Certification for the winemaking process, using lightweight glass bottles and renewable cork closures, and keeping a low carbon footprint by producing wine within a 20-mile radius of the vineyard.
