Gilbert Gruet, born into a poor family in Bethon, France in 1931, realized his dream of producing fine Champagne when he created the Bethon wine co-op in 1967. After visiting New Mexico in 1983 and seeing the winemaking potential, Gruet and his children Laurent and Nathalie relocated in 1984 to establish vineyards and a winery producing methode champenoise sparkling wines. The high elevation, temperature shifts, soil conditions, and lack of humidity proved ideal for pesticide-free viticulture. Laurent released the first Gruet Brut and Blanc de Noirs vintages in 1989 to critical acclaim. The family-run winery now produces nine sparkling wines, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs, distributing 125,000 cases annually across 48 states.
This nearly garnet Rose, like all our non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24 months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity in a dry, Brut style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate, revealing more strawberry, raspberry, cherry.
