Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot has grown to become one of Burgundy's most venerable and trusted wine houses, now owning 280 acres of the Côte d'Or's most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. The estate maintains a delicate balance between tradition and technology under the leadership of Technical Director Frédéric Barnier, who assumed the role in 2013 after working alongside legendary winemaker Jacques Lardière. Barnier continues to uphold the house's founding principles of minimal intervention in winemaking, focusing on the purest expression of each wine's terroir through restrained oak maturation. Under his guidance, the estate has expanded into Chablis, developed state-of-the-art viticulture and vinification teams, and overseen all new vineyard acquisitions and grape contracts, cementing Jadot's position as a cornerstone of Burgundian winemaking excellence.
This Bourgogne Côte d'Or, representing a quality tier introduced in 2017 that sits between Regional and Villages appellations, showcases fruit primarily sourced from Santenay, Marsannay, Monthelie, and Chorey-les-Beaune. Crafted at Jadot's Beaune winery through a careful three-week maceration followed by 18 months of aging split between oak and stainless steel vessels, this deeply colored wine displays classic Burgundian characteristics. The nose presents typical aromas of morello cherry and dark plum, while the palate reveals fine, elegant tannins complemented by subtle earth and spice notes that carry through the long finish. This generous and versatile wine, praised by Michael Apstein with 93 points, shows immediate appeal while maintaining aging potential for several years.
