The Rossignol-Trapet Domaine combines two families with deep roots in Burgundian winemaking. The Rossignols are an ancient winemaking dynasty from Volnay, while the Trapets have been established in Gevrey-Chambertin for over a century, having originally come from Chambolle-Musigny.
In 1961, Jacques Rossignol married Mado Trapet, daughter of Louis Trapet. They worked together on the Domaine Louis Trapet until its final vintage in 1989. The following year, Jacques Rossignol and his two sons, Nicolas and David, founded Domaine Rossignol-Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin.
Today, the domaine owns vineyards in several renowned Côte d'Or villages, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and their home base of Gevrey-Chambertin.
